UNESCO world heritage site Quito

To be quite honest, the main reason why I came to Quito was to book my trip to the Galapagos Islands...
But, Quito surpassed my expectations... the historic old part of Quito is beautiful around every corner and I understand why the UNESCO chose Quito as the first city ever to be a world heritage site...

foodporn in Lima :)

Unfortunately, I did not have much time in Lima.. so I focused on the most important thing- the AMAZING peruvian food...

Lunch @ El Mercado

yummy Ceviche- soooo good!

Tuna with organic tomatoes

obligatory cheesecake :)

In the evening, I was very lucky to get a table at "Central"... in case you havent heard of it... check out this article, it is #15 in the world!!!
http://www.theworlds50best.com/list/1-50-winners/central

The dishes pay respect to what Martinez (the Chef) calls pacha mama (‘mother nature’ in Quechua).

I decided to go for the 8 course tasting menu

one week earlier Charles Schumann (MUC peeps know him from his bar) was here!

3 different homemade breads with 2h cooked butter..

MACHU PICCHU

Well, what can I say?? amazing, breathtaking.... These words do not even cover it...
The first sight of this Inca ruin is just.... WOW!!!

I got there at 6 am, it was pouring down.. My ticket to Waynapicchu was at 10am, thank god it stopped raining around 9am...

The walk up Waynapicchu was pretty exhausting to say the least and seeing a getting carried down didnt really help :)
But on top, the views were amazing!
But see for yourselves...

foggy and rainy in the morning, at 6am

slowly getting better

just a little under 3000m high

I made it up the Waynapicchu
